Safeway has operated and delivered projects across the whole of Network Rails Infrastructure on a variety of Permanent Way and Civil Engineering schemes safely for the past 4 years without any major incident or accidents.
An in-house, one stop Contractor delivery team capable of managing all aspects of rail infrastructure minor works packages (Design & Build of Civils, Station Works, P-Way and Signaling work) . Our teams have national coverage with offices based in Manchester, South Wales, London and Doncaster
Drainage - We undertake drainage investigation, cleaning, drainage repairs, including pipelining and pipe-run repairs as well as rebuilding catch pits. We also provide a complete D&B service installing new drainage runs and drain outfall systems.
De-vegetation We can provide all aspects of route clearance and de-vegetation works self- sufficient in labour and plant. We can also advise on all ecological and environmental issues and deal with specific or discrete problems (nesting birds, knotweed etc).
Level Crossings and RRAP Accesses The team undertake all Civils works in connection with permanent and temporary crossing and RRAP installations. In addition, we maintain and inspect crossings and support Design and Specification development work as well. We install pedestrian crossing and walkways required within depots and sidings.
Troughing Works and Troughing Protection We have deployed troughing gangs installing new “runs” as part of various rail upgrade programmes and also install temporary protection systems as part of renewals work. For UTX’s we have installed both ducted systems and sleeper UTX products.
Walkways and Access Point construction We have constructed lineside walkways and ballast retaining structures, designed and built walking routes in depots/sidings and also constructed macadam pathways and access routes. We have built or enhanced access points and created vehicular access or safe pedestrian access points to access line side.
Platform and Station Works including ticket booths, ticket machines and station ticket barriersWe undertake work to platform copers and platform surfacing, work to canopies and external works relating to the car park area, access ramps, steps/stairs and entrances to the station. We have also supported all civil work in connection with installing tickets booths, ticket machines and automatic station ticket barriers.
Macadam Works /External works – The bulk of our work had been in forming access roads and surfacing of these roads. We have also undertaken black top and surfacing to car parks and compound areas.
Civils and P-way works Depots and Sidings – We have undertaken upgrade and overhaul works in depots and sidings completing track renewals, buffer stop replacements and all aspects of civils and concreting works including hardstanding and maintenance bays and compound storage facilities etc
Site Compounds Primarily this is work for new projects creating enhanced access routes and compound facilities to mobilise site accommodation facilities and the like. Work entails excavation and site levelling, laying of type 1 material and tarmac, fencing, drainage and lighting to create a fully functioning facility.
Stepped Accesses We have upgraded road access routes for the maintainer but also designed and installed stepped pedestrian access ways and lineside refuge areas. We have designed and constructed concrete and metal fabricated stepped accesses.
Fencing Works We have deployed gangs undertaking timber close boarded and Pallisade fencing, both for gated access and secure compound facilities and lineside fencing as well as hand-railing and disabled access and the like at stations.
Sound Protection Systems Principally this has been noise suppression screens and temporary work systems running alongside the railway to enable major works and protect lineside neighbours.
Concrete Work Concrete hardstanding, civils structures, bases, retaining walls and any other reinforced concrete structure.
Planning and Delivering full Track Renewals The team have spent a proportion of their careers delivering track renewals for major Contractors (and formally British Rail). We have a blend of experience that allows us to be self sufficient in managing principally plain line track work. This includes technical track engineering capability and site delivery experience (planning and implementing the works including track design and logistics/road and rail haulage).
Packages of TOC taking over certificate, handback and snagging works (track renewals and civils works) – We have provided a service to primarily our Principal Contractor clients completing the follow up work or site snagging activities to facilitate the taking over certificate and handback of any renewals and projects site back in to operation.
Surveying and Datum Plating We have deployed survey teams to install datum plating and complete and return as-built and data/survey measurements
